Front Range Airport
MEET THE STAFF AT FRONT RANGE AIRPORT
Dennis Heap, Director of Aviation
Dennis is a 3rd generation Colorado native. He has lived in the Denver metro area all of his life, except for 7 years when he lived in Steamboat Springs.

Dennis was the first graduate of Metropolitan State College of Denver’s Aerospace Technology program. His aviation career began with Trans Central Airlines, a local air taxi; however, it was Rocky Mountain Airways (RMA) that provided opportunities for growth and development. Dennis was the first Airfreight sales representative for RMA and moved his family to Routt County in 1974, when he opened the Steamboat Springs Station for the Airline. In spite of a promotion that required his work day to begin in Denver and frequent trips to Aspen, Vail and Leadville, Dennis commuted from Steamboat for 5 years riding the Airlines 19 passenger, unpressurized, DeHavilland Twin Otters as if they were a commuter buses.

Dennis was employed by RMA for 15 years and was the Senior VP of Marketing when the Airline was sold to Texas Air. Dennis was the only officer that stayed with the Airline as it was transformed into Continental Express. After 5 years with Continental Express, Dennis resigned as VP/General Manager of the Western Region.

Dennis joined the Front Range Airport January 1994, having a personal goal to stay with the Airport for 5 years, thereby giving him the necessary airport management experience to acquire a position at a commercial service airport. It didn’t take 5 years to conclude that Front Range Airport would provide more growth opportunities and would be a more exciting and rewarding way to end his aviation career than a going to a commercial service airport.

Dennis resides in Adams County with Bonnie, his best friend and wife of 40 years. Their three sons and four grandchildren also live in the metropolitan area.

Dennis currently serves as:

• Past President, Colorado Airport Operators Association (CAOA)
• Executive Committee, Aurora Economic Development Council (EDC)
• Board of Directors, Adams County Economic Development
• Board of Directors, I-70 Regional Economic Development Partnership
• Member of the Colorado Aeronautical Board

Listed in the “Who’s Who of Canadian Women”, she has led many different kinds of associations including Physicians, Lawyers, Realtors, and Educators and has successfully effected change in all of them.

Ann’s move to Colorado was because of a new life with her husband, Richard, of 4 years, they have a home in Strasburg, CO. Growing up in northern New Mexico, the southwest was where he was going to settle, ending up on the Front Range of Colorado. With David’s knowledge and experience of aviation and flight line operations he has been instrumental in the safe and effective operation of the line division, training, FBO and ground operations. He is currently certified as a National Air Transportation Association – Safety First Line Technician, also certified through NATA and Leading Edge DE/ANTI-icing program.
